Jerry Veil James (center) was from Hooversville, Pa. Receiving his military training in Africa, James participated in several battle campaigns throughout Italy. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for wounds sustained in Naples, Italy on May 22, 1944. This image can be seen on east column A of the memorial.
