In May of 1943, 22 year old Mary DaVanzo worked as a stationary fireman's helper at the Pennsylvania Rail steel car shop boiler room in Pitcairn, Pa., where she earned $.72 cents an hour. She lived on a farm in Delmont, Pa., and before joining the railroad, DaVanzo worked as a waitress at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. This image is located on west column F of the memorial.
